Spectacular Sunflowers

The sunflower is a potent symbol of summer and needs little embellishment. The large bright yellow and deep brown heads have a richness that makes great impact when the flowers are arranged in a simple, earthy-coloured pitcher.
Choose four sunflowers, and cut one stem to a suitable length to fit in the pitcher. Place this in the jug and arrange green seed heads around the sunflower, adding three purple flowers for contrast. Push the remaining sunflowers into florist's foam contained in a small, shallow vase and place at the foot of the pitcher.
