Thought for Today - Manage Emotions

"When the energy of our consciousness is out of our control - the mind is agitated. We are being emotional. The solution is to detach from the inner storms, stand back and observe the hurricane pass. Detached observation withdraws the energy which your emotions require to sustain themselves. When you watch your own anger, it dies. If you don't detach from it, and observe it ...it will be your master." ~Thought for Today-UK

Stephen King Quotes

"Even when love isn't enough…somehow it is." — Stephen King

"Get busy living, or get busy dying." ~Stephen King

“I have spent a good many years since―too many, I think―being ashamed about what I write. I think I was forty before I realized that almost every writer of fiction or poetry who has ever published a line has been accused by someone of wasting his or her God-given talent. If you write (or paint or dance or sculpt or sing, I suppose), someone will try to make you feel lousy about it, that's all.” ― Stephen King

“If you don't have time to read, you don't have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that.” ~Stephen King

"Life is like a wheel. Sooner or later, it always come around to where you started again." ~Stephen King

"No one can tell what goes on between the person you were and the person you become. No one can chart that blue and lonely section of hell. There are no maps of the change, you just come out the other side, or you don't." ~Stephen King

"People want to know why I write such gross stuff. I like to tell them I have the heart of a small boy - and I keep it in a jar on my desk." ~Stephen King

"Some birds are not meant to be caged, that's all. Their feathers are too bright, their songs too sweet and wild. So you let them go, or when you open the cage to feed them they somehow fly out past you. And the part of you that knows it was wrong to imprison them in the first place rejoices, but still, the place where you live is that much more drab and empty for their departure." ~Stephen King (From "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption")

“Talent is cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work.” ~Stephen King "The battle between good and evil is endlessly fascinating because we are participants everyday." ~Stephen King

“The road to hell is paved with adverbs.” ~Stephen King, On Writing

“The real importance of reading is that it creates an ease and intimacy with the process of writing; one comes to the country of the writer with one's papers and identification pretty much in order. Constant reading will pull you into a place (a mind-set, if you like the phrase) where you can write eagerly and without self-consciousness. It also offers you a constantly growing knowledge of what has been done and what hasn't, what is trite and what is fresh, what works and what just lies there dying (or dead) on the page. The more you read, the less apt you are to make a fool of yourself with your pen or word processor.” ~Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft

"The scariest moment is always just before you start." ~Stephen King

"You can see the goldenrod, that most tenacious and pernicious and beauteous of all New England flora, bowing away from the wind like a great and silent congregation." ~Stephen King, 'Salem's Lot

Stephen Edwin King was born in Portland, Maine, on 21 September 1947.

Thought for Today - Compassion

"A compassionate person develops an eye for spotting the qualities that make each person special. Thought for Today - Mind Matters

"The most important part of you is your mind (not your brain - the brain is the hardware and the mind creates the software). Care for your mind, make friends with it, always feed it healthy food, engage it in positive activity, exercise it with knowledge and wisdom. Like a garden returns fragrance and beauty according to the care invested, so your mind will repay you with thoughts, ideas and visions of great beauty when tended and invested with care. Your mind is not made of matter but it does matter what you give it and what you create with it. Where your mind goes, you go. What your mind creates becomes your destiny." ~Thought for Today-UK

Thought for Today - Work Well

"Work is only work if you prefer to be somewhere else. Work tends to be a negative perception of a task which we reluctantly approach. Work is only labour when we forget to see our life as it truly is - an opportunity to be creative, enrich others and be enriched ourselves. When we are able to see work in this way, we find something called enthusiasm inside. When we are enthusiastic we work well and we are valued. We are used as a role model. When we work well it is much easier to say no when we need to, for we know our own value, and we are not dependent on others' approval to feel good about ourselves. When we put love and enthusiasm into what we do, it rebounds in the form of opportunities and blessings, two of the most important ingredients of a truly wealthy life." ~Thought for Today-UK

"Creativity is the greatest rebellion in existence." ~Osho

"Creativity means loving whatsoever you do – enjoying, celebrating it, as a gift of existence! Maybe nobody comes to know about it. Who is going to praise Paras for cleaning this floor? "Each person is born with a unique individuality, and each person has a destiny of his or her own. Imitation is crime, it is criminal. If you try to become a Buddha, you may look like Buddha, you may walk like him, you may talk like him, but you will miss. You will miss all that life was ready to deliver to you. Buddha happens only once. It is not in the nature of things to repeat. Existence is so creative that it never repeats anything. You cannot find another human being in the present, in the past, or in the future who is going to resemble you exactly. It has never happened. "How can a person who cannot be happy alone, be happy in relationship?" ~Osho

"I love, because my love is not dependent on the object of love. My love is dependent on my state of being. So whether the other person changes, becomes different, friend turns into a foe, does not matter, because my love was never dependent on the other person. My love is my state of being. I simply love." ~Osho

"If you cannot respect women, you cannot respect anybody else -- because it is from women you come. The woman mothered you for nine months, then she took every care, she loved you for years. And then again... you can't live without a woman. She is your solace, your warmth. Life is very cold; the woman becomes your warmth. Life is very uninspiring; the woman becomes your inspiration. Life is very very arithmetical; the woman becomes your poetry. She gives grace to your life. She takes care of you. She loves you, she goes on loving you, tremendously, totally." ~Osho

"If you have found your truth within yourself, there is nothing more in this whole existence to find." ~Osho

"If you love a flower, don't pick it up. Because if you pick it up it dies and it ceases to be what you love. So if you love a flower, let it be. Love is not about possession. Love is about appreciation." ~Osho

"If you love a person, you accept the total person. With all the defects. Because those defects are a part of the person. Never try to change a person you love, because the very effort to change says that you love half, and the other half of the person is not accepted. When you love, you simply love." ~Osho

"If you want to learn anything, learn trust – nothing else is needed. If you are miserable, nothing else will help – learn trust. If you don’t feel any meaning in life and you feel meaningless, nothing will help – learn trust. Trust gives meaning because trust makes you capable of allowing the whole descend upon you." ~Osho

"In the future, democracy is not going to last long because the politician is already ignorant before the scientist; he is already in the hands of the scientist. "Love is not about possession. Love is about appreciation." ~Osho

"Love is the nourishment for the soul. Just as food is to the body, so love is to the soul. Without food the body is weak, without love the soul is weak. And no state, no church, no vested interest, has ever wanted people to have strong souls, because a person with spiritual energy is bound to be rebellious." ~Osho

"Man has to create himself. He is not ready-made, he is not given. And the creation has to be a self-creation-nobody else can make you." ~Osho

"Man unnecessarily creates problems. I want you to understand that there are no problems in life except those you create. Just try to see: whatsoever feels good for you is good. Then go the whole way. Even if the whole world is against it, it doesn’t matter. And whether you have gone total and whole will be decided by the reward."~Osho

"Many of our problems are just there because we have never looked at them, never focused our eyes on them to figure out what they are. Give life to things which are beautiful. Don't give life to ugly things. You don't have much time, much energy to waste. With such a small life, with such a small energy source, it is simply stupid to waste it in sadness, in anger, in hatred, in jealousy. Use it in love, use it in some creative act, use it in friendship, use it in meditation: Do something with your energy which takes you higher. And the higher you go, the more energy sources become available to you. It is in your hands." ‪~Osho‬

"Meditation brings immense beauty to the person, infinite grace, and a beauty which is not something painted on the surface, a beauty which has nothing to do with the body, a beauty that radiated from the very center of your being." ~Osho

"Merit will be the decisive factor. Not whether you can gather votes by canvassing all kinds of promises and hopes, but your merit, your real power in the scientific world will decide. And once government comes into the hands of the scientist, then everything is possible." ~OSHO (Priests and Politicians: The Mafia of the Soul)

"Only the intelligent ones feel confusion; otherwise the mediocre go on moving in life, smiling, laughing, accumulating money, struggling for more power and fame. If you see them you will feel a little jealous; they look so confident, they even look happy."...~Osho

"Only those people who are capable of being alone are capable of love, of sharing, of going into the deepest core into the other person without possessing the other, without becoming dependent on the other, without creating 'the other,' reducing the other into a thing, and without becoming addicted with the other. "The believer is not a seeker. The believer does not want to seek, that´s why he believes. The believer wants to avoid seeking, that´s why he believes. The believer wants to be delivered, saved, he needs a savior. He is always in search of a messiah — somebody who can eat for him, chew for him, digest for him. But if I eat, your hunger is not going to be satisfied. Nobody can save you except yourself."~Osho

"The capacity to be alone is the capacity to love. It may look paradoxical to you, but it is not. It is an existential truth: only those people who are capable of being alone are capable of love, of sharing, of going into the deepest core of the other person – without possessing the other, without becoming dependent on the other, without reducing the other to a thing, and without becoming addicted to the other. They allow the other absolute freedom, because they know that if the other leaves, they will be as happy as they are now. Their happiness cannot be taken by the other, because it is not given by the other." ~Osho

Howsoever valuable those ideas may be, they are useless because they are not yours. The only significant idea is that which arises in you, grows in you, blossoms in you." ~Osho

"The simple secret of happiness. Whatever you are doing, don't let past move your mind; don't let future disturb you. Because the past is no more, and the future is not yet. To live in the memories, to live in the imagination, is to live in the non-existential. And when you are living in the non-existential, you are missing that which is existential. Naturally you will be miserable, because you will miss your whole life." ~Osho

"There are only two types of people: one, who escape from their loneliness the majority, the ninety-nine point nine percent, who escape from themselves; and the remaining point one percent is the meditator, who says, "If loneliness is a truth, then it is a truth; then there is no point in running away from it. It is better to go into it, encounter it, see it face to face, what it is." Meditation means going into your loneliness wholeheartedly, to discover it, to investigate into it, to inquire into it. That´s what meditation is all about." ~Osho

"They say: Think twice before you jump. I say: Jump first and then think as much as you want!" ~Osho

"To be alone and to be drunk with your own aloneness is what meditation is all about. Be in the world, but don't be of it." ~Osho Rajneesh

“To be creative means to be in love with life. You can be creative only if you love life enough that you want to enhance its beauty, you want to bring a little more music to it, a little more poetry to it, a little more dance to it.” ~Osho

"To know oneself is to know all that is worth knowing; and to miss
self-knowledge is to miss all. A man may know everything in the world;
but if he does not know himself, he is utterly ignorant." ~ Osho

"Trees are happy for no reason; they are not going to become prime ministers or presidents and they are not going to become rich and they will never have any bank balance. Look at the flowers – for no reason. It is simply unbelievable how happy flowers are." ~Osho

"Truth is not to be found outside. No teacher, no scripture can give it to you. It is inside you and if you wish to attain it, seek your own company. Be with yourself." ~Osho

“What you call religious ideas are not religious, but only superstitions carried down the ages – for so long that just their ancientness has made them appear like truth.” ~Osho

"Whatever you feel, you become. It is your responsibility." ~Osho

"When I inhale,
I don't dwell upon things.
When I exhale,
I don't pursue thoughts." ~Osho

"When you are angry with someone and you throw your anger on him, you are creating a chain reaction. Now he too will be angry. This may continue for lives and you will go on being enemies. How can you end it? There is only one possibility. You can end it only in meditation, nowhere else, because in meditation you are not angry with someone: you are simply angry." ~Osho

"When you don’t need a person at all, when you are totally sufficient unto yourself, when you can be alone and tremendously happy and ecstatic, then love is possible." ~Osho

"Within three hundred years, science has given man so much, that in thirty thousand years religions have not been able to provide. And this, too, science has contributed against the priests, against the politicians. If politicians and priests are not there, man can take a quantum leap." ~Osho

"You are here because this existence needs you as you are. You are needed as much as the trees, as the flowers,as the birds, as the sun, as the moon, as the stars." ~Osho

"You are not accidental. Existence needs you. Without you something will be missing in existence and nobody can replace it. That's what gives you dignity, that the whole existence will miss you. The stars and sun and moon, the trees and birds and earth - everything in the universe will feel a small place is vacant which cannot be filled by anybody except you. This gives you a tremendous joy, a fulfillment that you are related to existence, and existence cares for you. Once you are clean and clear, you can see tremendous love falling on you from all dimensions." ~Osho

"You have to drop all your defences, only then is intimacy possible. We are all hiding a thousand and one things, not only from others, but also from ourselves." ~Osho

"You have to save yourself from so many good-intentioned people, do-gooders, who are constantly advising you to be this, to be that. Listen to them, thank them. They don´t mean any harm — but harm is what happens. You just listen to your own heart. That is your only teacher. In the real journey of life, your own intuition is your only teacher." ~Osho

"You will find meaning in life only if you create it.
It is not lying there somewhere behind the bushes,
so you can go and you search a little bit and find it.
It is not there like a rock that you will find.
It is a poetry to be composed,
it is a song to be sung,
it is a dance to be danced.

"Whenever you depend on somebody, you can never forgive that man. He makes you dependent, he makes you feel helpless." ~Osho

"Whenever you feel sad, sit silently and allow sadness to come; don't try to escape from it. Make yourself as sad as you can. Don't avoid it..." ~Osho

"Zen is not a philosophy, it is poetry. It does not propose, it simply persuades. it does not argue, it simply sings its own song." ~Osho

It lifts and exhilarates me. It is inspiring. It is a medicative draught to my soul. It is an elixir to my eyes and a fountain of youth to all my senses. It changes all hours to an eternal morning. It banishes all trivialness. It reinstates me in my dominion, makes me the lord of creation..." ~Henry David Thoreau

You can quietly admire the wonder of the artistry of their colours and how beautifully each colour blends with one another. One of my favourite birds to admire the colouring of is the brown pigeon. Their brownness ranges through cinnamon, nutmeg, tan, dark brown, russet and every shade of brown you can imagine. And when seen in the sunlight, they are gorgeous." ~Joan Savell on Should you feed birds in your backyard? (FB Starts at 60 Community Page)

I'd rather be a sparrow than a snail
Yes I would, if I could, I surely would
I'd rather be a hammer than a nail
Yes I would, if I only could, I surely would

Away, I'd rather sail away
Like a swan that's here and gone
A man gets tied up to the ground
He gives the world its saddest sound
Its saddest sound

I'd rather be a forest than a street
Yes I would, if I could, I surely would
I'd rather feel the earth beneath my feet
Yes I would, if I only could, I surely would.
~Paul Simon

The more he heard.
Why can't we be like

"When the wild life bird sings
inside your soul at the beginning

an adventure to be unravelled.

Thought for Today - Power To Tolerate

"To tolerate does not mean to die, but to live in everyone's heart with love. No matter how much against you someone is, even if you have to tolerate not once but ten times, nevertheless, the fruit of the power of tolerance is imperishable and sweet." ~Thought for Today -UK "You have the power to tolerate anyone and any situation. But tolerance is not just suffering in silence. It means going beyond any personal discomfort you may feel, and giving a gift to whom ever you would tolerate. Give your time, attention, understanding, compassion, care - all are gifts, which paradoxically, you also receive in the process of giving. And, as you do, you will experience your own self esteem and inner strength grow. In this way you can turn tolerance into strength." ~Thought for Today -UK

"Values are related to each other as if they were members of a great family. From peace and happiness emerges inner joy. All values have a shared origin which unites them - the peace of spirituality. When you lose peace you begin to lose everything." ~Thought for Today-UK

Thought for Today - Words Colour Our Behaviour

"Words! They are all around me! I see them. I use them. Harsh words, soothing words, biting words; words that give pain and sorrow; words that give joy and pleasure. They are vital to communication. "If your eyes are blinded by your worries, you cannot see the beauty of the sunset." ~Krishnamurti

"In the cultivation of the mind, our emphasis should not be on concentration, but on attention. Concentration is a process of forcing the mind to narrow down to a point, whereas attention is without frontiers." ~J. Krishnamurti

"Learn from all of life...
You must understand the whole of life, not just one little part of it. That is why you must read, that is why you must look at the skies, that is why you must sing and dance, and write poems and suffer and understand, for all that is life." ~Jiddu Krishnamurti

"Man has always sought immortality; he paints a picture, puts his name on it, that is a form of immortality; leaving a name behind, man always wants to leave something of himself behind." ~Jiddu Krishnamurti

"Meditation can take place when you are sitting in a bus, or walking in the woods full of light and shadows, or listening to the singing of the birds, or looking at the face of your wife or child." ~J. Krishnamurti

"Our minds are conditioned by a particular culture or society, influenced by various impressions, by the strains and stresses of relationships, by economic, climatic, educational factors, by religious conformity and so on." ~Krishnamurti

"Our minds are trained to accept fear and to escape, if we can, from that fear, never being able to resolve, totally and completely, the whole nature and structure of fear." ~Jiddu Krishnamurti

"Real freedom is not something to be acquired, it is the outcome of intelligence. You cannot go out and buy freedom in the market. You cannot get it by reading a book, or by listening to someone talk. Freedom comes with intelligence." ~J. Krishnamurti

“The ability to observe without evaluating is the highest form of intelligence.” ~Jiddu Krishnamurti

"The highest form of human intelligence is to observe yourself without judgment." ~Krishnamurti

"There can only be a relationship between human beings when we accept what is, not what should be." ~Jiddu Krishnamurti

"To deny conventional morality completely is to be highly moral, because what we call social morality, the morality of respectability, is utterly immoral; we are competitive, greedy, envious, seeking our own way – you know how we behave. We call this social morality; religious people talk about a different kind of morality, but their life, their whole attitude, the hierarchical structure of religious organization and belief, is immoral. To deny that is not to react, because when you react, this is another form of dissenting through one’s own resistance. But when you deny it because you understand it, there is the highest form of morality." ~Jiddu Krishnamurti

"... to negate social morality, to negate the way we are living – our petty little lives, our shallow thinking and existence, the satisfaction at a superficial level with our accumulated things – to deny all that, not as a reaction but seeing the utter stupidity and the destructive nature of this way of living – to negate all that is to live. To see the false as the false – this seeing is the true." ~Jiddu Krishnamurti

"To observe without evaluating is the highest form of intelligence." ~Jiddu Krishnamurti

"To understand truth, one must have a very sharp, precise, clear mind; not a cunning mind, but a mind that is capable of looking without any distortion, a mind innocent and vulnerable." ~J. Krishnamurti

"To understand what is, you have to be undisturbed, undistracted you have to give your mind and heart to it." ~Krishnamurti

"You see, you are not educated to be alone. Do you ever go out for a walk by yourself? It is very important to go out alone, to sit under a tree—not with a book, not with a companion, but by yourself—and observe the falling of a leaf, hear the lapping of the water, the fishermen’s song, watch the flight of a bird, and of your own thoughts as they chase each other across the space of your mind. If you are able to be alone and watch these things, then you will discover extraordinary riches which no government can tax, no human agency can corrupt, and which can never be destroyed." ~Jiddu Krishnamurti

Dr. John Gray Quotes

"A woman should not persist in trying to draw a man's feelings out when he is angry or upset. She should even try to postpone the conversation if a man is upset because often a discussion will escalate into a painful argument. Give him time to cool off. Let him watch TV or be alone. He will return and be able to hold a more compassionate conversation." ~Dr. John Gray, Ph.D.

Realize that giving and receiving love allows you to reach your fullest potential." ~Dr John Gray, Ph.D.

"After sleeping through a hundred million centuries we have finally opened our eyes on a sumptuous planet, sparkling with color, bountiful with life. Within decades we must close our eyes again. Isn't it a noble, an enlightened way of spending our brief time in the sun, to work at understanding the universe and how we have come to wake up in it? This is how I answer when I am asked — as I am surprisingly often — why I bother to get up in the mornings." ~Richard Dawkins
