Parker J. Palmer Quotes

"Anytime we can listen to true self and give it the care it requires, we do so not only for ourselves but for the many others whose lives we touch." ~Parker J. Palmer

"Don't let anyone or anything rob you of the beauty and meaning at the heart of life. It's your birthright gift." ~Parker J. Palmer

"Hospitality is always an act that benefits the host even more than the guest. The concept of hospitality arose in ancient times when the reciprocity was easier to see: in nomadic cultures, the food and shelter one gave to a stranger yesterday is the food and shelter one hopes to receive from a stranger tomorrow. By offering hospitality, one participates in the endless reweaving of a social fabric on which all can depend--thus the gift of sustenance for the guest becomes a gift of hope for the host." ~Parker J. Palmer from LLF

"Our lives are full of paradoxes—things that seem contradictory but actually complement each other."
~Parker J. Palmer
Solitude does not always mean living apart from others. It means never living apart from one's self.

Community does not always mean living face-to-face with others. It means never losing the awareness that our lives are intertwined.
"Sometimes we must swim upstream against cruelty, injustice and untruth." ~Parker J. Palmer

"The human soul doesn’t want to be advised or fixed or saved. It simply wants to be witnessed — to be seen, heard and companioned exactly as it is. When we make that kind of deep bow to the soul of a suffering person, our respect reinforces the soul’s healing resources, the only resources that can help the sufferer make it through." ~Parker Palmer

"This morning—as I awakened feeling a bit lost—it dawned on me that my life has been a series of visits to the Lost and Found Department! Time after time, I've felt lost, and time after time I've been found." ~Parker J. Palmer

"How often does this happen in our life - we find ourselves in relationships that we love, yet as time goes on, we begin looking astray, wondering if there might be something better. Or, we go to work and dread it. And as we dread our work, we look at others and wonder what it would be like to have their job, their husband of wife, their life. But it is hard to achieve anything that lasts and that we love, when we always have one foot out the door. What I have found is that loyalty strengthens love – be loyal to your lover, be loyal to your work, be loyal to yourself. From that place of loyalty will grow and attract more love." ~Charles F. Glassman, MD Coach MD

"I will always find a way and a way will always find me." ~Dr. Charles, Coach MD

Redirect your desire and watch how your health improves and how you come close to living your everyday extraordinary!" ~Dr. Charles, Coach MD

"It may seem like a no brainer, but how many of us go through life trying to get the approval or love from someone other than ourselves; from our parents, friends, lover, spouse, siblings? The need for love from another person often stands in the way of our finding true self-love, which is the most pure and divine. Once we find that, giving and accepting love becomes fluid and free." ~Charles F. Glassman, Coach MD

Alain de Botton Quotes

“A good half of the art of living is resilience.” ~Alain de Botton

"The emotionally intelligent person knows that love is a skill, not a feeling, and will require trust, vulnerability, generosity, humor, sexual understanding, and selective resignation. The emotionally intelligent person awards themselves the time to determine what gives their working life meaning and has the confidence and tenacity to try to find an accommodation between their inner priorities and the demands of the world. The emotionally intelligent person knows how to hope and be grateful, while remaining steadfast before the essentially tragic structure of existence. The emotionally intelligent person knows that they will only ever be mentally healthy in a few areas and at certain moments, but is committed to fathoming their inadequacies and warning others of them in good time, with apology and charm… There are few catastrophes, in our own lives or in those of nations, that do not ultimately have their origins in emotional ignorance."  ~Alain de Botton, The School of Life

Jamie Tworkowski Quotes

I want to see, one day, a change in mankind..." ~Jamie Tworkskowski

"Our job is to love people. When it hurts. When it’s awkward. When it’s uncool and embarrassing. Our job is to stand together, to carry the burdens of one another and to meet each other in our questions." ~Jamie Tworkowski from Journey to Peace

"Sometimes you don’t need a paragraph to sum up your day, sometimes one sentence has the perfect meaning. One sentence can describe your life; one sentence can make or break your day. When you live your life based off of chapters and chapters over time, you get lost in a story of struggle; you lose the beauty in it. There's something special about a sentence, something special about a group of words, too short to get lost in, but just long enough to bring understanding, to bring peace, and more times than not, to bring hope. Sometimes 1000 words can say nothing, but three words - recovery is possible- can instill faith in the torn, can give hope to the lost, and can bring love to the girl who feels she has nothing left." ~Jamie Tworkowski from To Write Love On Her Arms

"Sometimes you get lost in the world, its full of thoughts, full of fear, full of worry, but; when you take the time to make everything absolutely simple it can become a world of joy, happiness, and understanding. We as humans begin to over think everything. We start to move into a place in out mince where we think we know everything and everything we know is so very intricate, when in all absolute reality it's absolutely simple. When you're reading the quotes on this page (To Write Love on Her Arms), think about how the sentence refers to your life. You'll begin to see how we make our problems into something so powerful, because we make them intricate, but when we look at the simplicity that's actually there we become powerful, and our struggles and problems become weak. It's all about perspective." ~Jamie Tworkowski

"We are all a people in need. We are not perfect. We are not machines. We make mistakes. We need grace. We need compassion. We need help at times. We need other people. And that’s okay." ~Jamie Tworkowski

"You'll need coffee shops and sunsets, and road trips and airplanes, and passports and new songs, and old songs, but people more than anything else. You will need other people, and you will need to be that other person to someone else, a living, breathing, screaming invitation to believe better things." ~Jamie Tworkowski

PEOPLE

"People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you figure out which one it is,
you will know what to do for each person.
When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty;
to provide you with guidance and support;
to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
Some people come into your life for a SEASON,
because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it. It is real. But only for a season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons;
things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person,
and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant."
