A Prayer

Let me do my work each day;

AUTUMN FINALE

A beautiful day
With sunshine bright
Pale sky, blue sky
With cravats of white clouds
Densely lining the horizon.
Down below,
Leaves red, gold and brown
Dead and withered
Are lying on the ground
Some are hanging on the trees
Moistened by the remnant
Thawed frost of the morning
Clinging on to their last hope
Unyielding to the final season.
Soon colours will vanish
And life has to perish

Rock, My Fortress

On top of this big broad rock,
I found a seat to sit upon;
Watching the blue ocean,
Calm and peaceful in its depth;
There’s no trace of vanity.

The waves keep tossing
relentlessly caress the shore.
Every lap sounds a rhapsody
for every note of the wind.

As the waves confront the rocks
They spray in random motion,
Pacing fast, medium and slow,
Each tempo harmoniously flows.

This rock is my throne and my shelter,
Away from the world where I falter;
My fortress from life’s distress,
Here I found solace and peace.

On this big rock I ponder,
What lies ahead and yonder?
Meditating and contemplating
For every travails besetting,
I let them go through the wind.

A Tribute to All Mothers

A Poem My Mother Taught Me

SOMEBODY'S MOTHER

The woman was old and ragged and gray
And bent with the chill of the Winter's day.

The street was wet with a recent snow
And the woman's feet were aged and slow.

She stood at the crossing and waited long,
Alone, uncared for, amid the throng.

Of human beings who passed her by
Nor heeded the glance of her anxious eye.

Down the street with laughter and shout,
Glad in the freedom of "school let out."

Came the boys like a flock of sheep,
Hailing the snow piled white and deep.

Past the woman so old and gray
Hastened the children on their way.

Nor offered a helping hand to her -
So meek, so tired, afraid to stir

Lest the carriage wheels or the horses' feet
Should crowd her down in the slippery street.

At last came one of the merry troop,
The gayest laddie of all the group;

He paused beside her and whispered low,
"I'll help you cross, if you wish to go."

Her aged hand on his strong young arm
She placed. and so, without hurt or harm,

He guided the trembling feet along,
Proud that his own were firm and strong.

Then back again to his friends he went,
His young heart happy and well content.

"She's somebody's mother, boys, you know,
For all she's aged and poor and slow,

'And I hope some fellow will lend a hand
To help my mother, you understand,

'If ever she's poor and old and gray,
When her own dear boy is far away.'

And "somebody's mother" bowed low her head
In her home that night, and the prayer she said

Was, 'God, be kind to the noble boy,
Who is somebody's son, and pride and joy!"

I feel so honoured to find that there are websites who sourced some of their materials from my blog as I have sourced mine from others. It is great to be able to channel some wonderful thoughts of my great friends to be shared to many others, hoping it will give them some uplifting words to live by.
Learning words of wisdom from people helps me to be philosophical and practical in my approach to life. Of course, I follow my own conviction trying not to compromise any conventions. I certainly do not lean on my own understanding either. We all need divine inspired guidance. My parents were my first teachers who taught me some "nuggets of wisdom". To them, I am indebted my knowledge of life to which they molded my intellectual and spiritual well-being.

Just Enjoy Life

Stop worrying about how you look and what people are saying.
Stop listening to what people are saying and trying to find out if they are whispering about you.
Stop waiting for someone to tell you that you are okay or to make you feel special.
Life is special!
It is a special gift.
This is your life!
Now take your gift and live it out in the open!
Decide today that you are going to live out loud!

Living out loud means having the courage to be exactly who you are without apology.
It means admitting your mistakes without beating yourself up.
It means not taking who you are and what you have for granted.
Release all shame!
Release all guilt!
You cannot live out loud if you are hiding behind what was.
Living out loud means focusing on what is, right now, and that is you!

To live out loud means showing up as your authentic self, without your makeup or your toupee.
It means acknowledging your shortcomings and celebrating your strengths.
Living out loud means broadcasting your needs, your likes and your dislikes as they relate to your fears and frustrations.
It means that you let people know exactly who you are and expect them to be as thrilled as you are about who you are.

In order to live out loud you must have faith in yourself and in the process of life.
You must have principles you live by and standards by which you can govern and gauge yourself.
Most important, in order to live out loud you must love yourself enough to tell yourself and everyone else the absolute truth about you.
When you can do that, you can live out loud and be very proud about what the world will hear about you.

Until today, you may have been living your life in a whisper.
Just for today, take one step toward pumping up your volume.
Stand up in yourself! Stand up and be yourself!

TO WONDER

To wonder, to know,
To explore, always asking:
What am I?
Who am I?
What will become of me?
Of my knowledge?

Am I squandered on the world?
Cheapening existence through vanity?
How long before I am fit to say, I know this!
Rather than, I think this.

That in itself questions self,
Whether our thought and mind is
Our own knowledge and assurance.
At what point in time do we stop marching?

Pencil upon paper, sight upon colour and light.
A fixation upon what we comprehend
And that, which is incomprehensible.
Are we gambling with the gifts we are given?

Are they gifts?
The ability to question choice, life, the air we breathe;
The sun, the moon, clouds, stars, the earth, wind, rain, height.

Re-reading leads.
Random, our teachers abandon us,
Fending for all you are on your own
'Tis a lonely path all humans follow, trying to fill the void
With relationships, contact with others, family, friends.

I advanced myself only through victory.
Victory against what?
If there’s nothing to fight against,
How do we advance at all?
Do we fight against self-doubt?

Remember today that you are alive.
Sometimes we tend to forget.
You have a purpose that is all your own.
No one else is you.
You have dreams and hopes and desires.
Listen to your heart for a while.

Remember today all the blessings you have.
There's beauty in every direction you look.
Enjoy the abundance that is already yours.
The world is a wonderful place and you're here.

Remember today that you get what you give.
Your world is a mirror of your inner self.
Love will be yours when you give it away.

Remember today that life is creation.
As long as you live you can always contribute
your own special voice.
Remember today is a special time.
Make the best of it while you can.

No String Attached

I've nothing else to offer,
So, to you, it's love I'll send,
It's nothing that I borrowed,
And it's nothing that I'd lend.

It has no dollar value,
And it can't be overused;
It isn't fragile, so it can't break,

A VANISHED FRIEND

Around the corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone.

And I never see my old friend's face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,
He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell.

And he rang mine but we were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men.
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.

'Tomorrow' I say! 'I will call on Jim
Just to show that I'm thinking of him.'
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And distance between us grows and grows.

Around the corner, yet miles away,
'Here's a telegram sir,' Jim died today.'
And that's what we get and deserve in the end.
Around the corner, a vanished friend.

BEAUTY

It is when beauty arrives,
To wake us up and come alive,
Guide our eyes to the sky,
To look within and we will shine.

Keep the flame of hope burning bright,
To see our inner light come to life,
And then the winds blow and we begin to breathe,
To hold that moment that never leaves.

Seek the beauty within the world,
Grasp the life we hold deep inside,
Embrace everything from our soul,
Until we reflect the light from our eyes.

The light gives life to the colours of change, Blending into one that remain the same, Adorning the blue stained sky,
Dreams reign high while clouds entwine.

And the depths of the ocean below,
Reflects our tears through rain and snow, Crystallised in the blink of our eyes,
A momentary glimmer of the radiant light.

Stars awaken as we look above,
And pain slowly fades to love,
Reawakened as we morph to dust,
And dissolve in all that is and ever was.

We reveal of what is inside,
Within the lineaments of our soul,
A beauty mirrored from our eyes,
It is a teardrop filled with the world.

Beauty is the essence of the heart,
As love is expressed into an art,
A light that is born that guides us home,
A dream that dawns of all we've known.

A birth into the unborn again,
A commencing where all become still,
A starting where we stopped to rest,
A momentary time that we fulfill.

The day is DONE

The day is done,
it cannot be changed.
My actions and my thoughts
reflected my own spirit
on this day of some,
I am proud,
of some I am not.

When I wake,
there will be new chances...
To think and act
with wisdom and compassion.

We Are Collective

Let the real revolution begin.
This is a fight to save our country's future.
To salvage the gains we have so far achieved
when we decided to put the right man in Malacanang.
To ensure that everything he does
and all he has accomplished will bear fruit
instead of simply going to waste.
To cut our ties of dependence to oligarchic structures
whose only desire is to enslave us.
To chart our own course.
Fueled by a longing to break free from the past.
To see a country where we all enjoy real economic progress.
To see the day when Filipinos do not need to migrate.
To stand proudly among the brotherhood of nations.
Not as beggars but as equals.
Duterte has shown us the way.
But evil forces conspire to block that path.
Using every weapon in their arsenal to fool and deceive us.
This we cannot allow.
Because we are Legion.
We are the Multitude.
We are Collective.
