"I was waiting for a friend inside the mall. And because I have time to spend, I bought corn on the cob and sat on one of the benches. As I munched on my corn, enjoying it and waxing nonsensical philosophies in my mind, I decided to conduct a social experiment. I smiled at every person who sat infront of me or beside me and whom I made eye contact with. It never failed. I got answering smiles from everyone. They must found it strange that I wasn't holding a phone and just observing the people around me. It occured to me that mobile phones may have helped us to communicate with friends and family, these same gadgets will also prevent us from living in the present. And interact. We are caught up in the virtual world, so much so that when we are confronted with the harsh yet equally beautiful realities of life, most get confused and don't know how to act accordingly.
